James Mullen (abt. 1774- ?)

James Mullen was born about 1774 in Luzerne County, Pennsylvania. He married Charity (Hoover). They came with James's brother Thomas and Benjamin to Central Ohio, about 1810. James and Charity had the following children:  Susannah (b. 1799), Lucretia (b. 1814) and Abel (b. 1817).

Susannah married Jonathan Green and died in Whiteside Co.,  Illinois in 1890

Lucretia married Frederick Starkey and died in Noble Co., Indiana in 1900.

Abel moved to Noble County, Indiana in 1849 along with his wife Ann Starkey. They had James (1838), Maria (1840), Lafayette (1842), John (1844) and Charles (1846). His mother Charity is also shown in the 1850 census as living with the family in Indiana. Lafayette  was killed at the Civil War battle of Chickamauga in 1863 and Charles was killed at Whiteburg, Alabama in 1864. Abel also married (2) Isabella Keller Bozarth and (3) Thursa Groves. Abel died in Center Village, Ohio in 1901 and is buried in Center Village Cemetery in Delaware Co., Ohio.

John married Almira Mayfield in 1867 in Missouri. They had Louisa Ann, Lafayette, Estella, Minnie, Etty and Elisha Lee. John served with the 88th regiment of the Indiana Volunteer Infantry during the Civil War.
